you don't

it's a terrible food that will lead to undissolvable (solidified) fat deposits in the fish's body, leading to a prematurely short life span

meat products should never be fed to fish, as the oils in meat solidify at the temps of a tropical aquarium, and fish cannot void them from their bodies at all

the physics of liquid to solid states of fish fats and oils, vs mamalian fats and oils, and the issue of fatty deposit buildup from meat (heart is mostly muscle, so less of an issue, but already documented to be known to cause problems in various fish species, like mbuna in particular, and it's use was mainly 'pimped' in the early days of fish, and particularly discus, keeping-thank jack wattley :? ) is well known and scientifiically documented

mammalian meat, no matter of what type is certainly not the most ideal food for guppies, or most FW fish- i'd suggest blackworms and bloodworms, frozen/fresh fw fish meat, mosquito larvae, and daphnia-IF you really want to give ultimate conditioning to a fw fish ;)

imo

I don't feed it anymore as I no longer have discus. When I did feed it I would partly freez it and then cut it into small chunks and blend it with the vits and supps then refreeze it. I would just break off a piece and feed the fish. Worked great.

Vitz, Do guppies live long enough to worry about high blood pressure and clogged arteries? :P

dunno....

if 3 years is long enough, then yes....and if one is trying to breed as high quality a guppy 'line' as possible, then i'd definitely consider it an issue...optimum nutrition is of supreme importance when trying to avoid any genetic 'deterioration' in a breeding line ;)

I've never bred guppies but I had these links stored for a friend who was into it for some time:

http://www.ifga.org/beginners/beginners_corner.htm
http://www.ifga.org/articles/richmond.htm
http://www.thekrib.com/Food/beefheart.html

And I've actually seen this in person which is a little more gross than seeing it on the web
http://www.discushatchery.com/food.html

Seems like a popular food source for breeders but that may not mean it is the best food source for the fish... breeders may give more importance to growth rate during the grow-out stages than overall health.

Hope that helps

Guppies would never encounter saturated fats in the wild, and heavy reliance can lead to fatty liver disease. I suspect you wouldn't hurt growing guppies by feeding it though.

I wouldn't have a clue personally, I'm guessing it's mostly to speed up growth rate during the development stages.
