My Blue Spot Goby has some sort of parasite on it. I'm not sure what it is exactly or how to even treat it. Not to mention that i haven't added anything new to the tank in a very long time so i'm not sure where it came from. If anyone could help i'd really appreciate it

The Physical Features as follows:

- Thin
- White/Clear in color
- Seem to pulse when moving
- Flat
- Pill/Oval Shaped

I'm adding a pic however it was taken with my phone so its not the best for macro shots like this. (they are on its face) I'll change the pics tomorrow when my camera is charged

Thanks Again,
Joe

I looked up "Flukes" and from the other pictures i saw, this is what it is. Thanks for the info.

Should I be concerned that they layed eggs in the rock or substrate at all? Any measures I can take to help avoid the whole tank from getting it?

Thanks
Joe

If it's flukes you want to get Prazipro and start to treat the tank. Fresh water dip will work on the fish, but you need to be careful, as with heavly infected fish removing the flukes all at once can leave holes on the fish, which could cause it to bleed to death. I would do two treatments, which is basically a full dosage and then a 50% water change, and then another full treatment. The second treatment will get rid of the newly hatched flukes, as the eggs will not be killed during the fish treatment.

Flukes do take a while to kill fish, especially large ones, so you do have some time.

OK so I picked up some Prazipro

Before I treat the tank I wanted to ask if this is reef safe?

I have a assortment of zoas, ricordea, sps, lps. My major concern is that I use this and I end up doing damage to my tank.

Thanks for all the info i've gotten so far.

Yeah, just found a few threads on other sites that suggest the same thing.

Unfortunately I can't catch the fish - Rocks are in the way.

What if i was to soak food in a anti parsitic dip such as Gel-tek, Garlic Guard

or even if i get a food already pre-soaked like http://www.drgsmarineaquaculture.com/frozen-antiparasitic-detail.cfm

when i lived in florida i swore by this brand. does anyone know of one thats equivalent in nature or if this product is sold at any LFS

As I told you before, this doesn't kill the parasite, it just builds up the fish immune system. In the end it's no better than using garlic. There is no miracles cure, which if you look at the label on this product, it seems to be.

It's supposedly reef safe but it's NOT safe with worms i.e. feather dusters. Also Xenia and Star Polyps don't like Prazipro. Invertebrates seem to be ok with it, most shrimp seem find after dosing with it and crabs are pretty tough. SPS, LPS and Zoas seem find, though they may close up a little once you first start to use it

no you should treat in a hospital tank. Prazi is not a proven reef safe treatment.

Problem with this is you need to kill it in the tank, and usually two treatments are needed, as it doesn't kill the eggs. So just treating the fish in a hospital tank doesn't do it.
