Question on my ocellaris clown fish

So I bought it since it was a juvenille maybe 3/4 of an inch in size about 2 years ago. It has since grown to roughly 3 inches. In the very beginning I had bought a partner for it and put them in at the same time. Unfortunately the partner died within a month and its been alone ever since. So my question is , roughly how long does it take for an clown fish to turn into a female. I think I read somewhere that after a while of being alone it will turn into one. I want to know if its possible for it to have turned into a female after two years or if it takes longer. Eventually what I want to do is pair it up with another ocellaris. I don't want them to fight with each other and possibly kill one another. Or is it a safe bet to buy a juvenille clown? I wouldnt want it to get picked on. I apologize for the extra long post. 2 years alone; most likely a female already. your safest bet is to get a juv, 1 inch or less and it will pair up eventually. they can tolerate a juvi.
