I know right now you are going to be told what is the size of the tank and all that fun stuff so you might as well add what the tank size is and the filtration and coral and when did it cycle and all that fun stuff.

seems like you have a mix of fish. If it has been up 3 years and the fish you own have been fine and peaceful together i definitely wouldn't advise adding another aggressive fish like a clown trigger. Its obviously up too you but i would go for something non aggressive if i was adding to a successful mix agressive 3 yr tank.

Them fishes been together for 3yrs i dont think you should add anything the fish you thinking of adding is agressive not only he can be a pain but he can also bring the bad side of your other fishes next thing you know Riot in your Tank ...Ive seen it happen...

Unfortunately, you already have a problem in waiting with your Picasso.

Do a search and see how many people say their once cute and friendly Picasso has gone mad and is attacking tankmates it used to get along with. Often after they have grown to be more than a few inches long.

A clown trigger would only make things worse.

Do you have a second tank, or plans on buying a second tank soon?

What if I get a bigger Clown Trigger then my Picasso?

You're taking an already volatile situation, and making it worse.

If you get rid of all of your smaller fish, then we can start entertaining the though of an aggressive tank. Although that's not really the best plan for success.

What you want to do first is pick either the Picasso, or your other fish. If you don't, one day your Picasso may very well make this decision for you (by killing the rest).

Do some searches, and you will find many people saying their Picasso has recently gone blood-hungry, and that they need to trade him or give him up ASAP.

In any case... the last thing you want to do is add any size clown trigger to the current mix!

Spend some time on LiveAquaria.com. Browse the fish, their adult size, minimum tank size, and the compatibility chart. The chart isn't the best, but it's a good starting place.

Another great reference you should pick up without question is "Marine Fishes". It's a must have if you plan on staying in the hobby.

Read it through a couple of times, and I bet you'll start to second guess choices you are considering, or have considered in the past.

Another excellent reference is this:

There is also a cheaper paperback edition.

I'd hold off on any new purchases until you pick up either of these.

The worst feeling is buying a new fish that disrupts the tank, stresses out the tank, and handcuffs you with regard to what else you can add later on.

Wow ! neither of those mean triggers are meant for a reef. are you kidding? get that picasso outa there its a time bomb, he would love to thrash the clowns, I had a clown trigger for years, lost it in the power outage, just a nasty mean fish, he was in with two lions, harlquin tusk and marine beta.hed always eat first and just meancae the others and he was 3 inches every thing else was much bigger . I would only trust a plankton eating trigger, blue throat or something else thats reef safe
