I wanna get two Flame Angelfish
If I introduce them together it will be ok or I have to have only single angelfish and there is any visible sings between males and females
Have 90 g reef tanks with a lot of corals and live rock just never had angels
Thanks

its very hit or miss when putting two angels together. especially of the same genus. but even more when the species is the same.
more than that, a pair is much more likely to fight than three of a kind. but you dont want three of them.
you dont really want to add too many fish to your reef tank so save space for different fish.
i have an aurantius angel and a flame angel.
they get along fine. but theyre the biggest fish in the tank and there arent many fish overall. and the aurantius is reclusive. but hes gorgeous. and very hardy. ive had him about 7 years. and the flame about 5
the aurantius picks at the coral sometimes. but its ok. he needs to eat.
ive never seen the flame pick at th coral. that doesnt mean he doesnt. but i never see it. they are a hardy nice looking red(reddish) fish for a reef tank. but stick to one of them.

oh, and if you decide to do two anyway, your best chance is to get them the same exact size and introduce them at the same time. lots of hiding places and a big tank will increase your chances. and remember, the smaller and younger you get them, the more likely they will get along.

More than one can be kept in the same tank but you are better off keeping one in a 90 gal.I saw a tank with 7 Flame Angel and a few tangs but this was a very large tank.

all of this is true, except one is the most important

they eat coral

everyone says if you feed them well enough they will not touch coral. this is NOT true. i have one in my reef tank 72 bow and for the first 4-5 months he never touched a thing. i feed my fish 3-4 times a day lightly and noir/seaweed in the tank all the time which he loved. once the 5 month mark hit i noticed him staring and hovering over my zoos and anything close to that species. he would have his face right next to it and circle it. finally i noticed the nipping. when i saw it i wold throw food in the tank. still to this day he nips. not alot, but within a month range if i had say 100 zoos on a rock, he would eat about 20-25. same thing with 3 of my friends. they seem fine but if you stair long enough at him you will notice some nipping. my opinion i would give you my flame if i could catch him but HAHA forget that. i could never catch him. im just sick of him eating my coral

If you want two then it's best to add at the same time. You can add later but more difficult once the first one gets established.

and there is any visible sings between males and females

the dorsal fin of the male is more pointy. the bottom pic is male

Thanks

lots of live rock will certainly help for them to pick algae off and use as shelter.

The problem with pairing these is that 95% of the time, the Flame Angels that are collected and offered in the hobby is the larger, more beautiful males. I've had a true pair of these and the female is tiny compare to the male and is less colorful. Even though they are a pair, the male still picks on her whenever he can although they get a long better over time. These do change sex, but I'm unsure in which direction.

Joe Burger from RC has 3 and seeing his 270 gave me the incentive to try 3 myself. I added them all at the same time and only the Coral Beauty shows aggression but just to chase them away. They are in an 8' tub right now so plenty of swimming/hiding/territory for each of them but they will spend time together. I have also had a CB and flame in a 180 with no issues but did see the occasion chase to get the other away so the 90 may be a little small for more than one.

I'd 3 in a 75 the went with 6 after upgrading to a 180.

In Oct 2007 where all 6 were introduced at the same time. I lost 3 last year due to velvet after introducing a Blueline angel. My suggestion is to get them small (where they are usually female) and give it time for the male to emerge. Or ask where you're buying from to only give you one male. I've mostly angels and they get along with other centropyge pretty well and the larger angels leave them along.

First pic is from 10-2007 and second pic is from 10-2009. And please excuse the thirty rocks as losing the cleaning crew after velvet hit and had to resort to copper.
