my blotchy has not eaten for 8 days, but it swims around at night a lot and hides during the day the whole time. i dont know what to do and i'm wondering why its even still alive. can it be eating something at night when im not watching? any advice?
it also still looks very healthy and its fully colored.

Couple questions:
Tank temp?
How bright is your tank?
Remember this is a deep water fish and sometimes it takes time for them to acclimate to brightly lit aquariums and aquariums that are warmer than they are accustom to in nature. Give it some time, Odontanthias borbonius are voracious eaters.

Other foods to try:
Chopped PE mysis shrimp
Copepods
Reef Nutrition Artic Pods
Frozen Cyclop-eeze
live brine shrimp
Bloodworms
Glassworms
Chopped Clams

its been a little more than 2 weeks, hasn't eaten yet.. i have a tek t5 fixture, and my tank runs at 78. I know that blotchy's like the temp a little cooler. but i see it swimming around all the time at night.

my blotchy took about a week to start eating with the lights on. Same deal though hide with lights on and swim around with them off. I starting feeding with the lights out when the blotchy was out.

live brine should do, when your fish didn't eat for 8 days, donsn't mean it hasn't ate in 8 days, prior to shipping they have to starve the fish for 3-5 days so they don't create ammonia in the bags, and god knows how long the LFS starv them for, also keep a good amount of current in your tank.
