Very Very Small Zebra Eel

Saw this at NW about 3 weeks ago and picked it up yesterday. It's probably the smallest Zebra Eel you'll ever see. The pump it's under is a Eheim Hobby pump 1040.

I figured someone would have brought him, especially since it was only $40. Now the problem is making sure it's going to get enough food. Right now I have it in a QT tank so I can make feeding easier. I'm then going to move it to a larger tank with LR, which will make it hard to feed, especially since Zebra Eels have really bad eye sight.

It does make a good Eel for a Reef tank.

Every last one of them that I have fed I had to place the food right in front of their faces for the first couple of days their eye sight is haorrible like most eels,,lol..

Small Eels, like the Snowflakes that are usually available, need to be feed 3 - 4 times a week. especially the real small ones. If you can't do that you shouldn't buy them. It's better to get a larger one where you don't need to feed as much and if they don't eat for a week or two they'll be ok.

Zebra Eels usually are hard to get to eat and then throw in the problem that their eye sight is really bad it make it hard to keep them. Once they start to eat they're very hardy.

Mine must be the weird one with good eye sight. It always finds the food. Thank God!!!! I throw in a bunch of silver sides & prawns, and it always finds the food.

That looks almost like a fresh water coolie loach. very cute specimen.

i saw this very eel when they were acclimating it, jumped right of the guy's hand on the floor. :shhh: absolutely tiny.
