I have a 1" Hippo Tang. Recently I have noticed a few of my acans have been snacked on(mainly 1 new colony). The only animal i've noticed picking at the colony is my hippo Tang. I look at my tank often, including very late hours of the night, very early hours of the morning, and everything inbetween.
The tang appears to be "eating" a few different colonies of acans, but only two colonies show signs of being eaten, by that I mean white skeleton showing, and half a polyp gone in 24 hours.
The only other possible fish/invert is a pistol shrimp, but I never see the shrimp, it hides out in the back of the tank(behind the rock structure), and acans are in front of tank.
Has anyone heard of Hippo Tangs eating corals?
Or is it something else?
All parameters are in proper areas, nothing else looks bad.
Thanks
