Puffer Compatibility

Hello,

I have a small Valentini Puffer right now and i was wondering if anyone has had sucess with have a Valentini Puffer and a blue spotted puffer. I know you're not supposed to mix species or even have multiple puffers but i was wondering if anyone has done this?

If not does anyone have a Valentini with clown fish? Will that be safe? And how about another Valentini ?

at pets warehouse they have multiple valentinis in the same tank but blue-spotteds are always in a seperate tank. pets warehouse is a trusted pet store and im pretty sure they're doing stuff right. i don't see why clownfish can't be kept with valentini's.

I wouldn't go based off of something you see in a pet store. Those fish are housed for a short period of time together. Doesn't mean in your tank that things will be the same. Most times in pet stores you often see things that normally wouldn't work. Fish mixed together that would be stressed and not benefit living like that permanently in our systems.

As a generalization puffers should be kept one per tank. Even going on generalizations with any fish, what happens in an individual system can vary greatly, no matter the fish and vary again from fish to fish. As they often say, I'm sure we've all heard it a million times, the only predictable fish is a dead one.

the valentini might not like sharing the tank with the clowns...what size is the tank?

it's a 46 gallon bowfront. i didnt think the clowns and valentini would have any problems... right now i have a serpent star fish, midas blenny, and the valentini and no problems yet (knock on wood)

Honestly, I think you'll be okay w/ adding a pair of clowns. Just make sure to rearrange your rock work and watch your new fish Carefully. I used to have a bluespotted puffer and he got along well with clowns. (They were added first though.)

How does your valentini act toward your other fish?
