Hi, just have a question on 2 fish that i might grab from a friend who is breakingdown his tank. He has an engineer Gobi and a Black Cap Basslet and i was just wondering if those are hard to keep or are agressive towards other fish. i just started my 90 gal reef tank so i just wanted to start off with a couple of fish that are easy to take care of and that are nice and cool looking xD...how much would u think both of those fish cost to buy from him?

thnks

The fish themselves tend to be hardy. Keep in mind that Goby is a compulsive digger and wont stop burrowing till his home is complete, sometimes causing rock slides. Black caps are also known to eat shrimp and the one I owned ate one of my cleaner gobys.

Goby-10-20
Blackcap-40-60
this is what they ball park for from LFS

i just tested my water today and it was perfect.. i bought the tank 3 weeks ago from someone on this site and i used about 40% of his water and all his LR (which was about 50Lbs) and LS. For the rest of the water i used RO/DI water... but im not gona get these fish for another week and im also buying another 100 Lbs of his live rock to speed up the cycle. i just put a chromis in today to see if he survives and i also have zoos and mushrooms in there bc i got them when i bought the tank and i had nowhere else to put them.. are u considering me not to put the fish in my tank yet because it is too early?

the cycle wouldn't be big enough to kill some of the corals that are attached to his rocks ..right? he has some sort of mushrooms, green star, some zoos, and like 3 rics that he can't frag off of his rock...would they be able to survive?

and now im thinking of not getting the basslet bc i dont want it eating my shrimp.. but im still thinking about the engineer gobi ... i think its awesome how they swim and poke their little heads out of their little homes :tongue1::splitspin

o yah.. forgot to say that
yah the rock is cured and has Purple coraline all over it ..they have been in his tank for a little over 2 years now... also do u think $4.25 per lb is a good price for the rock? saying it has about 10inches by like 7'' of green star polyps, zoos and some rics and mushrooms all over the rock?

It's a good price for already-cured truly live rock, particularly if it is size/shape you like and has been in a good healthy tank for years. You'll be getting so much good stuff on that rock (you could also be getting some stuff you don't necessarily want, but in all honesty, we all share our tank diseases and most are manageable with good husbandry and careful attention to water chemistry...)
