I have to say that my Algae Blenny is my favorite fish in my tank. I recently added some SPS corals and absolutely love them too. Here's my dilemma. I'm going to start running a phosban reactor on Thursday and I'm worried about my blenny starving if the phosban reactor does what it's supposed to do. I've tried to feed him Formula 2, but he really doesn't look at it....at least as far as I've seen.

Has anyone here found a supplemental diet for their blenny that will keep him healthy?

Thanks...........Eric.

How long have you had the blenny if he eventually doesn't start accepting prepared foods its only a matter of time before he kicks the bucket, most systems just wont have enough food to keep him healthy.

Try offering other foods. Mysis, Brine, seaweed, other flakes
hopefully eventually he will start eating the food you feed your other fish.

When buying a fish in the future its always a good idea to make sure they are accepting food other than just picking at rock.

Just my .02 good luck :birthday:

I've had the blenny for a while now. I have some algae growth, but nothing major. I just want to start running phosban to avoid having my sps's brown over.

As of now, the blenny is fat and healthy. I just want to see him remain that way. I feed the rest of the fish mysis and formula 2. I don't have any tangs and he's really the only algae eater in the tank.

I'm going to nori sheets.......hopefully he'll accept them. If not, a friend of mine has a bigger system and I'm sure he would be happy to take him.

Thanks.........Eric.

Nori is a good choice imo, If you fold a sheet up and stick it behind an algae magnet lower down in the tank the algae blenny will find it and start grazing after a while. you can then start throwing in frozen foods which it should start to take occasionally. Dropping some pellet next to the algae clip may also help.

my guy is a little gannet to be honest, and even the tangs have a hard time of it at the clip when he exerts his authority.

I had 3 blennies in the past that eat sea veggies and sea weed select on a clip or just on a zip tie suspended in the tank for my tangs .Unfortunatly i lost all 3 to power heads.
