I was finally able to borrow a camera to get a good pic of one of my clowns. It has these bumps under its skin and I'm not sure what they are. I bought the fish online (only way I could get this fish) and I'm surprised they would send me a fish that has something wrong with it.

I sent them a pic and they told me its most likely a parasite.

What do you think? I'm not sure what I should do :irked:

I have a false perc that had black spots appear on him. I searched MR and found that when clownfish initially try to host a coral (perhaps an unwilling coral) the corals sting will leave the black marks on the clownfish' skin. My clownfish is still with me, black spots all gone, so i guess he learned his lesson to stay away for the coral.

Unfortunatley I do not know what the red spots are. Do some searching on the forums and you will probably find an answer.

No abnormal behavior but it does try to host my frogspawn sometimes. My smaller does too though and it doesn't have the same black freckles. I just received an email back from the company I bought the fish from and now they say it's not a parasite since I told them the fish had them when they sent it to me ;) It does seem like they have grown a bit though and I'm not sure what to do about it, if anything.

That is wierd..as far as the bumps, is that how you recieved the fish? what did they say it could be? are you feeding large pieces of food or chop it up? I would be pissed off because if i remember correctly the shipping charges are 35 for overnight delivery plus the price of the fish they should at least give u a healthy looking specimen.. i got my cleanup crew from them-free shipping, and i only got half my order called them up and they sent the rest out no problem.. had no problems with the livestock.. gl with the fish

Well... hmmm I mean the food matters but I know with clowns they usually get really bloated bellies.

Those seem really weird. My tang looks like it has those bumps sometimes but maybe it's just a sign of him digesting. Are these bumps constantly on him? Maybe it could just be a mark that will disappear with time. As long as he isn't swimming abnormally he should be fine..

Yup, when I first got the fish it already had the bumps and they never disappear. The fish acts fine and swims fine, it's just weird. As far as food goes, since I got the fish this way, I doubt it's food related. Either way, I fee my fish a mix of Flake w/ Algae, Filter foods, live brine, and frozen combos.

I've had the fish for over 6 months now and I've never seen any odd behavior. I've just never seen this before and hoped it would look familiar to someone. So far I can't find the answer anywhere! :irked:
