I have a TP clownfish that was introduced about three months ago into my 65 gallon tank. It was about 2", tank bred, quarantined and doing well. About a month ago I added a second, tank bred, quarantined TP that was about 3" and immediately started dominating the original fish. I figured this would settled down one the larger one became the dominant female and the hiearchy was established. The fighting is still going on. Actually I should say the bullying since the smaller one does its best to avoid the larger one's aggression. Sometimes they host together in one of my softies but whenever the larger one starts getting aggressive ( not just around feeding but especially then ) the smaller one tries to run away but often time it takes a while for the larger one to back off. Twice I had to fish it out of my overflow and twice it made its way to my sump. Now its starting to show some battle scars - dark areas on its flank and some torn dorsal fins. What should I do? I'm afraid to separate them as I figured this will just resume when I reintroduce them. Will this inevitably result in a dead fish or do I need to be a little more patient?

When adding a clownfish it is always besy to ad them at the same time or a smaller one later. You have a dominance struggle in there. I would try to take them both out QT them for a little bit then re-introduce them at the same time in a week or 2 and see how that goes.

Rearranging rocks is out of the question. Maybe Ill stick one in the sump and one in quarantine. Brendan the second one was an inch longer and bulkier than the first one which is why I didnt think dominance would be a problem ( plus the smaller one does not start up with the bigger one, it has accepted its position, the bigger one just doesnt stop messing with it ). Unfortunately the only local place I found with TR true percs only had one when I first went in and didnt get another shipment for three weeks otherwise I would have added them together.

I would let them be and let them figure their problems out. Even though I got my two percs at the same time, the one that became the female would always pick on the male. She beat him up the point he had torn fins, but it suddenly just stopped. I think they just need time to work out their differences.
