Wow how about this

As people here know i am currently getting out of the hobby for a bit. But two unexpected things happened today. One would be that my last cleaner shrimp has given berth to thousands of baby's. The second thing is this fish that came out of the rock work and started eating the baby's. I didn't even know this fish was in the tank or what kind of fish it is. Can some one FYI me on it.

WOW that is amazing. It looks like a cardinal fish of some sort. Maybe a Flame Cardinal?

I know right. I looked up what u called a flame cardinal on google and it was nothing like it. He's a tough little bugger to get a pic of. Here's another pic that i hope you guys will consider a little better. He's very shy.

....though I read elsewhere that the Apogon maculatus (another variety of cardinalfish) will lose his spots if not fed an enriched diet w/all of the necessary viatmins & color enriching foods...

that's funny though...a fish you thought you didn't have or never bought just shows up...I wish that'd happen to my tank...but then again my tank is only 12 gallons ... awesome fish though!

Sorry i would have to disagree. This fish has white marking's on it's face and other arias when those do not.

Thank you for all of your suggestions. So far the closest fish i can find that resembles him when he is not fat is Sharpsnout Cardinalfish (Foa Hyalinus)

Is the dorsal fin bone thick or does it look like that because the fin is compressed?

Did this come out of a tank where you put locally collected stuff? If so, I'd check and see which cardinals are found up here in the summers ....
