hi guys, my fish have been dying lately, which is annoying since my tank's been running for two years :( the tank's aerated and all, parameters are good, i havn't added suppliments lately, probabily the only thing that could be changing is my RO water, i don't have an RO filter so i purchase water from some local store, is that usally bad? well this RO store did say that he uses a mechanism for cleaning empty gallons before usage; by cleaning them with soap and then washing them with hot water and finally with RO water. should that take care of the soap traces? what else could be happening at the store that i might not know of? any past experiences would be really appreciated. thank you.

What parameters have you checked and what are the levels?

That "soap" thing sounds really weird. Was he cleaning YOUR containers with soap? or his reservoir containers with soap? What is this soap thing called? Soap shouldn't be used, but I'm guessing you're using the word soap for something you're unfamiliar with... at least I hope

Yeah something sounds off. A container which is specifically used for RO water should not even need cleaning. Only pure water is touching the container so why was cleaning even needed?

I would not use that water at all. At the least I would buy distilled water from the local grocery store and mix it with your favorite salt. As much as you would think the soap would come off it doesn't. Residue still exist for quit sometime. I would do a large water change. If worse comes to worse go to petco and get the pre made 5 gallon salt containers and do atleast half of your current tank.

well the parameters i checked were ammonia nitrite which as expected were null, ph at 8 gravity 24 and nitrate some 30ish, i have an overflow system i even have a small refugium, woodenstone driven skimmer, used to use cs marinemix but i had bleaching so now i'm using IO salt, i'm having an acceptable coralline growth. ok about the soap, in here people use 20 liter containers for keeping water, when yo call this store for water he brings you a 20 liter container that is full of water and takes ur empty container, and he cleans the empty container that u gave him with some sort of soap, it isn't so concentrated that u could smell it. but if it really is the soap, i guess problems should've occured earlier since i use his water regularly for like a year now! i used this guy's water because it had no nitrate and was cheap at the same time he says he filters water coming from some river or something. thank you

Reasonable.

Let's look atyour case from another angle, would it be diseases? Any sign of that? Any sign of pumps failing-leaking poison, any sign of stray current?

probabily not disease, because i also lost two shrimps. it's not perfume. there's this lady who cleans my room balconi where i keep open water gallons, i instructed her to clean with water only, i'm guessing she possibly didn't take my instruction into consideration
