My Yellow Clow Gobies moved from the back corner of the tank to my Purple Gorg yesterday. I never really thought these two would pair up, I bought them this past summer and they barely tolerated each other but always stayed in the same area of the tank which always left a slim hope of them pairing.

Tonight I was watching as they circled around a few branches of the Gorg all the while one of my Citron Gobies is hanging out behind the Gorg watching.

The Citrons are the Kings of the tank and at this point just tolerate each other so there is always a lot of action in the tank and the other Gobies back down when they are in the area. I was just starting to wonder if the Citrons had chased the Yellows into the Gorgonia when the way they were swimming seemed much more like a little Dirty Dancing.

Sure enough I have my first spawn since my first marine tank back in the early '80's.

It pretty common from what I understand for them to breed in captivity. I was just surprised as I did'nt think they got along all that well.

The update is they Egg mass was just barely hanging on this morning before the lights came on. There is a lot of flow throught that area.

I was hoping I could get a pic when I got home and the lights would be on, but they were gone. One of the Gobies is bouncing back and forth from the Gorg to their old territory, the other is not leaving the Gorg.

I wonder if they blew off or if the Citrons wanted eggs for breakfast.

Sorry you lost the eggs, but now that they've had practice, hopefully they'll spawn again soon for you!
