Now if I could only figure out what fish it is! I was at the Birch Aquarium here in San Diego and saw this guy. There were 2 of them in a nice reef tank.

So does anyone know the name?

I'll post more pix when I get around to re-sizing them.

bah! this one was in a tank 3'x3'x2' or so. with another one like it.

I was hoping I could put one in my 58. ah well.

I saw some at greenwich, they were about 6-8 inches

if you found a small one it could live in the 58 for a bit.

Reading about this really cool looking fish, I see that it's venomous like all Rabbit fish. If you catch and get stung, are you up the shi**'* creek, or is sting comparable to a bee sting, only bad if your allergic.

Actually its correct name is Siganus (S.) punctatus
Beautiful fish.

A correctly identified Siganus (S.) punctatus is seen here. In some books or
online websites this fish may be listed as Siganus (S.) guttatus. A Siganus
(S.) guttatus will have a very apparent yellow circle directly in front of
the caudle peduncle.

Look at my pic, there's a nice yellow spot.
