Has anyone been successful at keeping a blue ribbon eel in a reef tank?

Ive been informed they are very difficult to get to feed in an aquarium, however a very knowledgable man from my LFS states that he has been successful by keeping a breeding pair of mollies in his tank, keeping him supplied with live food.

I am interested in possible getting this animal but would like to here some opinions from people who have tried

Mollies probably wouldn't breed enough to keep an eel fed. They're very hard to keep, with the biggest problem being that they just don't eat. Most people also get them to eat ghost shrimp, krill and maybe small feeders.

You also need to make sure your tank is completely escape proof as they will climb out.

The long term success with keeping one usually isn't good, even with them eating.

cb747 has two of them in his tank along with two snowflake eels and he doesn't even feed them any sort of live food either.

As Warren stated i have 2 ribbons. They eat small silversides and frozen krill. Be perpared to target feed them. Mine are actually to the point where they snag krill all by themselves but being i have alot of competition i make sure they get there fair share of silversides. I also target feed my snowflakes just so they dont go looking for the food and get it before the ribbons do. Hope this helps

Great advice, I real appreciate it. The general consensus is pretty dismal but I am willing to be as inventive as I have to to keep the animal healthy

there's a great thread on this where the guy built pvc tunnels into the sand and rockwork so that the eel would have a place to hide. cool stuff.

If you mean me i still have them.
I have no PVC or sand for that matter in my tank but i do have alot of rockwork and the eels seem quite happy. My 2 ribbons stay together most of the time along with one of the snowflakes, The other snowflake stays on the other side of the tank. Ive seen agression between the snowflakes but never with the ribbons. There very gentle
