Regal Angel

Well I have had this Regal angel for a little over a week and I guess he's fine. I mean he had a couple spots of ich but they went away. The problem is that he swims behind the rocks verticlely and never really comes out but only to eat a little. What I think is that hes a affraid of my Sohal tang even though he's bigger. So is this normal or is he taking a turn for the worst ? I am worried about the fish.

If he is swimming vertically, that might not be your sohal - it could be a punctured swim bladder - often common when fish are caught at depths and the divers don't want to take the time to decompress them properly, they will take a pin and pop the swim bladder. 80-20 survival rate at best (IMO).

I hope it's just your sohal - if it is, they should be fine over time. Unfortunately, it could go the other way as well.

Wait it out - keep them fed - use garlic to help ward off problems etc.

Thanks Jim. But whne I got him he was swimming fine in the vendors tank. Like I said to me it looks like is just sacred to come out.

What you're seeing is pretty common with Regals. It scare right now and it's basically looking for a place to hide and keep safe. By swimming verticlely, behind the rocks in the back of the tank, it feel safe. It's a good sign that's eating, just give it time and it will start to come out more. The Sohal could be a problem when it gets larger but it probably wouldn't bother the Regal that much, especially now that it's small.
