My tank has craploads of rare corals...I need a fish or a couple fish to match. My prize would be the earlei wrasse pair, but I don't have $1k to spare right now. I like the rhomboid pair that Twilight offers, but they get too big for my tank I believe.

So...what fish should I get?

Peace,

Chip

First, is the tank covered? Flasher wrasses would be nice (most Fairy wrasses should get bigger tanks then a 40g IMO).

Yeah, I know about fairy wrasse size...I shoulda sprung for a tank your size, Len. :)

A flasher wrasse harem would be great. The tank is not covered, but with my tank being 98% low-light corals, a glass or eggcrate top would be fine.

However, WHAT flasher wrasses should I get if I decide to go that route? I need something spectacular! :)

Peace,

Chip

I think a fallback selection for me would be a mystery wrasse plus something else rare but different species...

The terelabrus is awesome, and becoming available. That would be a nice pair. The mystery kinda is the same colors as the helfrichi, so I think I'd not put them together. I'd want something different.

I wish I could get a cheap resplendens or interruptus. The pair of interruptus that Sang has are just killer.

Peace,

Chip

Try to get the Maldive one. It's a bit more colorful and interesting IMHO. You'll see the north Indo ones more often but the Maldive one is worth the hunt.

I say get a mixed shoal of Luzonichthys spp. slender anthias and those Tryssogobius colini gobies.

Would definitely make your tank one of a kind.

Matt, I know you're a nutball for cool little fishies, but those gobies do absolutely nothing for me. They look like guppies. :)

Looking more and more like Maldives terelabrus and mystery wrasse. They're different looking, different colored, and very active.

Peace,

I like gobies/blennies. How about the following:

1. Priolepis semidoliata aka sublime goby
2.Trimma sostra or any other Trimma sp.
3.Trimmatum eviotops
4. Enneapterygius sp aka triplefins
5. Trimma sp
6.Eviota sp
7.Paragobiodon sp
8. Bryaninops sp especially the erythrops or natans
9.Escencius sp
10 Cirripectes

Any of the Luzonichthys are sweet

For centropyge, interruptus,or joculator(orangy yellow, shallow-water variation)

Trimmas are great but they are SO small, and they stay perched on the substrate like a hawkfish most of the day. In a 40 they'd hardly be noticeable.

Mystery wrasse? Snore. EVERYONE has one of those nowadays... ;)
