Recently I noticed my hippo has started moving around empty shells with his mouth. I have never seen this or heard of them doing this, is this strange behavior? He is in a 125 gallon tank and his tank mates are an achilles, 2 perc clowns, yellow watchman and a mandarin. Just wanted to know if this is strange and I have had him for about 2.5 years now

I don't think every behavior for most aquarium kept fish have been categorized at this time. No 2 fish will have the same psychological make-up. A reef fish moving shells does not sound like strange behavior to me at all.

Your hippo moves shells, while mine eats the frilly tentacle skirts off of pink zoanthids (and only pink zoanthids).

My Hippo likes to pick up and carry pretty much anything he can get his little mouth around. Even frags that haven't been permanently placed are fair game. I couldn't figure out what it was going on until I caught him in the act one day.
