I thought I'd jump in on this wrasse pic orgy ;)

Received the shipment of two johnsoni wrasses from Twilightaquatics this week... what amazing fish! This is the second time I've seen johnsoni's in person (the first time was in Len's nano tank back in the day). They started eating the second day in the tank, and are now out in the open most of the time.

Let me just say that Brian of TwilightAquatics is a great guy to deal with... the male johnsoni (I ordered 3) came in DOA (Hawaii to New York is understandably a very stressful trip--it was 30 degrees or so when they arrived), and with no questions asked Brian agreed to ship me another. I hope to be receiving him sometime this week! I don't know about the rest of you, but I've been looking for a place like TwilightAquatics for a long time... super-rare fish, reasonable prices, and straight from the collector who knows them best.

anyhow, some johnsoni pics :)

Yes, very nice and well-focused on.

Here is a candidate, some 6.5cm long from the Marshalls (got in 2004). Too young for marriage ?

I actually wait for the new arrival from there again. It is believed to reach at most 7cm but this time nearly 10 cm long individuals will be available, I hear.

NKT & Hiroyuki,

I received my Johnsoni fairy wrasses today. I got them at about 9AM this morning. I proceeded to unpack them and start the slow process of acclimation. The fish were packed excellently by Brian @ Twilight Aquatics.Double bagged with a newspaper ring surrounding the bag to promote total darkness for the fish to relax and sleep. The bags where placed inside a foam cooler box which also sat inside of another box. When I pulled the fish out of the bag and placed them in the specimen cup they were totally asleep with mucus cocoons around them....totally relaxed and breathing gently. After about a 2 hour acclimation process I placed them in their tank in another specimen cup that has slits to promote the aquarium water to flow through the cup. The fish perked up quickly and they slowly started to get their color after being asleep for so long a time.
Late this afternoon I placed some mysis shrimp in their cup and both the male & female ate like pigs. This is a testament to great collection procedures by Brian and his dive partners. A gently collected fish always responds well to the transition to an aquarium.

I have been taking pictures throughout this whole process and I hope to have them up here soon. Sorry, I had a little bit of a family emergency this afternoon that set me back with this. But I'll get the pictures up soon.

Once again Brian.........Awesome service!

Male Johnsoni - Just arrived. This is what he looked like right out of the box. He was sound asleep and that is why his colors are marbled[/img]

Truly awesome fish. Like the blown-out-neon-light version of the lineatus. :D

Peace,

Chip

Bronco,

Nice pics and individuals. The male seems still in caution with red fins. The outsatnding red of fins is greatly different from that seen in C. lunatus (that is black).
