I think my dwarf lion fish just realized that there is a medium to large hermit crab in the tank.

I think I just watched them duke it out, but Im not really sure, and Im wondering if the hermit crab needs to be removed to prevent injury to the lion fish.

Basically the dwarf is hovering over the hermits cave and the hermit came out and it looked like he may have had the lion in one of his claws.

I dont know what type of hermit crab it is, it's just sort of gray, possibly with stripes of black on it's legs.

The hermit is way too large to be fit into the dwarf lionfishes mouth, but Im just wondering if perhaps the lionfish is going to do damage to the hermit crab.

Thanks,

I think you can get an idea of the size of the lion compared to the crab in the photo attached.

Call it a tie. :)
Unless the Lionfish is sick or dying the Hermit Crab should be no problem and the Lion would not be able to ingest the Crab as they eat things whole.
