I took acknowledgement that a top importer store in São Paulo, had a bulky amount of Cocoa anemonefish, I mean, whose parents are Premnas X Amphiprion. How is it possible to mix different genera of the same family without those implications of hybridism, sterility, malformation, etc . Répondez s'il vous plaît!

It's an interesting subject and still being debated on whether different species of Clownfish breeding in the wild are producing offspring that are fertile.. We can't be sure if these are hybrids or hybrids of hybrids or even new unidentified species. Also beware of color variations of various species and the use of common names these very well be nothing but a color morph. There have been reports of the offspring of hybrids displaying male/female coloring/ sizing and defending the same Anemone in the Solomon Islands though no offspring have been sited. Also some researchers have tried breeding hybrids in tanks though as of yet have had no success.
It would be interesting if you purchased some of these and tried to breed them, I'm sure many people would be interested in your progress.
Pictures would be more then welcome.

Hi David! I can't buy the stuff, my aquaria are overcrowded. The only way U could see the real? thing is visiting the site of Ecoanimal, a top fish store in São Paulo: http://www.ecoanimal.com.br . Click "marinhos " (left) and Palhaços (Clowns), and Criados (tank- raised). There, you'll find Cocoa the mixed clown...

Got it.
I can't tell from that picture as we really need to see the fish close up as far coloration, spines, etc. Unfortunately I also don't read Spanish though I can sorta make out what is says. :(
I honestly wouldn't take a guess right now, not knowing the reputation of this store as it could be a hybrid or simply a color variation.
I'm going to try to enlarge and enhance that small picture though I'm not sure what type of detail I'll see.
If you find any more info let us know.

Regards,
David Mohr

Itsn't Spanish, but Portuguese. The Cocoas came from a Florida farm, surely, not Martin Moe's, but a larger one. I'm quite sure they're a mix, and not a colour variant. I found strange such a expertise in breeding different genera.. You're right, I might grab these slippery creatures, but São Paulo is 400Km (250miles) away. And, as I stated, I had to put them in a pail. So...till next shipment I must have an aquarium to fit them..
