Hi MR folks. Just a quick question how can you tell the difference between a juvenile blueface and a juvenile six bar angelfish. The markings are very similar from the pics I have seen on the internet. I have a chance to buy a juvenile for an extremely cheap price(under $40 plus a small discount in addition). The guy was not sure but said it looks like a six bar.
Any tips. I would rather raise a blueface!
Thanks, Ron

Juvi Six Banded Angel have clear tail, they get short blue lines just right before they change to dots at final coloration. Juvi Blue Face's tail have vertical rings(bars) on them. Juvi six band's body also have less white bars than Blueface, but you would have to have seen both to tell the difference.

Get Helmut Debelius's Angelfishes book, there are great pictures in it to help you identify all the angel fishes.

The juvenile sixbar angel doesn't seem to have the interspersed blue lines that the blue face has.
