find someone who does. and let them hold them for you. this way you can treat your tank. if not buy a rubber maid and use that as a QT. run a UV and get the flow going in the tank and turn the heat up

Copper in main tank is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard especially when there are threads upon threads upon threads on every reef board advising against this. Even the morons who work at petco advise that if you are gonna treat any fish for disease you do it in a hospital tank and not in the main display tank. Never add medications to the main tank that one of the basics of any type of aquarist, fw/sw/reef but if you want to make certain that you will never be able to have any inverts in your main tank that survive, go ahead.

Ok how about malachite green then? The fish are hard to catch and it's too late for the tang.Did'nt make it.Pissed about it.My fault.I'll take my chances on treating the main tank for the remaining fish even though they're fine but I know those buggers are still swimming around waiting for a host.I'll know better next time to qt him before I put it in my main tank.Didn't really have the room but just got a small one yesterday. Wife is having a fit.

Try Lowering your Salinity, do it slowly, and try lowering your temp a little, also tangs need room to swim so they dont stress out , Is he being bullied? if so someone need to come out... QT is your best bet though also Try Garlic as this helps

It is not smart to add any type of medication to the display tank. It kills bacteria, and cannot distinguish betwen good and bad bacteria. It also gets absorbed by the seals and the rock and can leach out at any time and can cause a problem in the tank.

Hyposalinity should also be done in a QT tank as not to hurt any inverts or corals in the tank because they are very sensitive to salinity levels.

All you have to do is take the fish out for the life cycle of the ick (4-6 weeks) and treat the fish in the hospital tank with copper. That way there's no medication in the main tank and without any host fish the ick will all die.
you should read the QT / Ick treatment articles on Wet Web Media
www.wetwebmedia.com/ichartmar.htm
Dont Nuke your main tank with copper, Ick is an easily treat-able condition.

I agree in leaving the DT empty for 4-6 weeks. You should also lower the temperature. I wouldn't suggest using any medication to cure ick. Just do hypo over the same period (4-6 weeks) and you should be fine.
