Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone has owned a Lori's Anthias before. I just purchased one from liveaquaria, but this guy hides 24/7 in the rocks scape. I was lucky enough to snap this picture of him last night but its been 1 week and a few days now. He appears healthy.
I have yet to see him swim in the open or on the base of the tank.

What other fish do you have

I have kept anthias in different situations they like schooling and and would swim out in the open if they have other fish to school with

They do hide in the beginning so that could be it but they can also be bullied (and be bullies but not your case here)

They do like to rest so sitting on a rock under a rock is normal

I have had them and they are shy especially at first. They will get bolder in time if not harassed. It will also be out most of the day if in a group of its own species or other open water non-aggressive species like Dispars. It should be fed multiple times a day with small meaty foods such as roe, brine, small mysis etc... gradually it should accept small pellets and possibly flakes.

I may just purchase one more lori to keep him company. This guy is hiding underneath the hammers that the clowns host, not the best place for a cave but I've target feed him. Not sure if he is actually eatiing what I feed him. I'll wait and see I guess what happens in a few weeks.Maybe he is feeding on some Copepods entering the tank from the grow out Copepods area in the sump.
Thanks for all the tips and help everyone

They cant survive on copepods i dont even know if they eat them but anthias in general need to feed multiple times a day you can sometimes get away with feeding a big meal once and a little bit before you go to work or get back from work but anthias should be fed multiple times a day make sure it is not being stressed out by other fish clowns can be bullies and keep the anthea in its cave if you have chromis depending on size it may school with them as well best to keep anthias in a group of 3 or more
