Hi to all,
1st of all i want to wish everyboby a HAPPY THANKSGIVING :splitspin
heres my problem, 2days ago i added a a coral beauty to my tank,
and to my suprise, as soon as i put it in my tank the powder brown
tang went after it immeditaly, chasing it all over the place, acting
very aggressive towards it. Now the CB hides in the LR in one specific
place and is to scare to come out, I can see that its very eager to come
out and explore its new enviorment but as soon as it sticks its head out the PBT will chase after it and seem to try to kill it. at times the PBT seems obsess with it , guarding the opening of the LR waiting for the CB to come out. the only time it leaves it alone it when its feeding time.
and now its been 2 days and the PBT has not even let up alittle.
What should i do? should i add another fish to distract the tang?

Thx in advance for any advice

No, try to rearrange some of the rocks or something, the PBT is only protecting it's territory from the CBA.

i was watching a video from reefshowcase.com and he said when he adds a new fish to stop his tangs from attackin another fish when added he put a mirror up against the glass at the tangs.. i guess its worth a shot me personally have not tried it but it works for him...

how big is the tank that they are both in ?\

tang tend to be protective of their space .see what happens in a few days ,the tang may except its new buddy ,if not then try to move some rocks as chief said ,or try what tony read on the site ,i never tried that so cant say if a mirror will help

btw ,you should always introduce new fish at night time when your fish are resting and if you cant ,try to feed the tank to get the attention away from the new tank mate

good luck

dan

like ronen said try to add your fish @ night.

try the mirror trick i saw that video, i guess the way it works is that the PBT will be more interested in it's own reflection or "the other PBT in the tank" and be too preoccupied to bother the coral beauty. be very careful w/ this method, you don't want to hurt your fish
