Suggestion for a small fish that eats algae for my sump.

I put a few frag in my sump, can anybody suggest a small fish that will nip at algae in my sump? The sump is about 15 gallon and about 26" long.

Believe it or not but black mollies are great algae eaters. Just have to acclimate them from freshwater to saltwater. Great thing about them is they reproduce quickly so when they have babies it's food for your fish

Why not use some inverts instead of a fish? Besides, there are not many saltwater fish that would do well in a small tank like that (therefore narrowing down your selection further).

not true these fish dont eat algea, they gather food source from the sand

I've seen these gobies eat algae. Problem is, they get no nutrition from it. I've actually seen them stop sand sifting just to eat algae....and they slowly waste away and die.

Well ofcourse i can put snails and hermits, i was trying to avoid snails because they get all over, probes, float switches etc... I wanted a fish, i saw a bicolor blenny, its small and eat algae, $17..i was thinking that..

Bicolor Blennies require rocks with many holes to hide in. In addition, its diet will most likely need to be supplemented with a more nutritional algae (such as formula 1 or 2 mix). Plus its never a good idea to keep fish in a sump because of the risks of getting sucked into pumps etc. I have kept a bicolor blenny in my regular reef tank though and would recommend it as a fish for your display tank (they have a great personality!).

Bicolor blenny was really cool, and for $18 i might just buy for my display... I do have a lawnmower blenny though
