that is strange for many triggers urchins are on the menu....I've seen Humas blow water at them to flip them over to eat their soft underside...not sure about Nigers though......

Urchins are commonly used as a refuge by small fish. It isn't very common in small tanks but it does happen.

Most triggers will make a meal of an urchin, usually first pulling out the spines one by one. The Niger Triggers tend to be reef-safe planktivores and probably wouldn't do that. Perhaps it has just found a new way to wedge itself into a secure crevice, or at least feel like it has done so...
