I have a Gold Rim White Cheek Tang, Power Blue Tang and a Blue Hippo Tang. They other two Tangs completely disregard the fact that that the blue Hippo Tang exists. So should I throw a Clown Tang or another similar bodied tang to break up the fights?

Unfortunately you have 2 very aggressive tangs, I have owned both and I have had 2 gold rims and both were just as aggressive as any PBT I have ever owned. It might come down to which tang you like better and removing the other or removing both and reaquascaping and adding both together. Another tang might resolve the issue but that is just a crap shoot. If you do add another tang make sure it is larger than the other 2 that are causing problems and make sure it is QT, fat and healthy before introducing it to the DT.

A 150 is to small for one hippo let alone 2 or more. And your post does not read as add more than one. It just reads as you should get one.

First of all it is "too small" not "to small". Secondly let's keep it on track for the OP here. If we start discussing how big the 150 is for the tangs, then I would say with the three tangs he has he is pretty much already done ... LOL

If it is not big for a hippo it is not big for a naso either.

Alas, people would comment on 150 being small for tangs without looking what they house in a much smaller tank themselves...

So to the OP. Sorry about this. It is all how you interpret the things.

I have tried the mirror trick with success. Try to put a vanity mirror in the tank and see if anything changes. The PB or GR might just get busy with its own mirror image.

Good luck.

im trying to help the OP and I wouldn't comment on having a fish in a tank that was to small, and then do it myself if that is what you a referring to.

So we are on the same page then. I am also trying to help the OP.

I am assuming this is a 150G which is 6 feet in size.

That said, let's be rational. Unless the tangs are over 9 inches in size, are we suggesting that you cannot house 4 - 5 different tangs in that tank??

I asked earlier how big the tangs were and have not heard back yet.

So I guess we wait for some answers.

Well from general knowledge and personal knowledge a hippo gets large quickly. They are one of the faster growing tangs. The gold rim and PBT will grow slower and will never reach the size a hippo is capable of. I would look into what I posted earlier about removing a tang or reaquascaping.

Hey guys, sorry I was sick last night or I would have chimed in early. The Tangs are all around 3 inches. And the fighting between them is not serious. Just a little chasing around the tank. The dodge each other through the rock work and then stop 10 minutes later repeat cycle. First it was the powder blue being the bully than the gold rim white cheek. Its like the Blur Hippo Tang is not even there and all three are eating just fine. No discoloration or physical stress that I can see. I would be willing to try the Blonde Naso and a purple tang also this aquarium in just a starter aquarium. My wife and I will be purchasing a house in the coming months and a much larger aquarium will be going in so while there small I would like to enjoy them.

Come on guys please let's not fight. Let's just help each other....

Generally, Tangs of the same species are not recommended to live together so i've heard but you know that does not apply in every tank. Sometimes they play nice. Your Gold Rim and Powder blue are both from the Acanthurus species so there is a good chance they may fight. I would keep watching them and remove one if this continues. Tangs can live in smaller tanks at a very small size but you will need to take them out once they grow though.

Just my two cents.
