African Flameback angel

hey guys, So i made a few mistakes in choosing the right fish for my 10gal nano cube. I was told by so many on here to check with you guys before purchasing any fish. so here is it.

hows the African Flameback Angel for my tank? 10gal nano cube with 10gal sump. Current tank mates will be blue mandarin, and clowns. tank is mostly softies

Dude that fish needs to roam and feed, a 10 gallon isnt big enough for to many fish, but of course he may survive but its like keeping a dog in a cage all day.

Get a goby forget any angelfish.

+10000 NO angel fish in a 10gal! To be perfectly honest, 10 gals is way to small for the madarin too

1+ to all the above...If you have a 10G why not just keep a pistol shrimp with a yellow watchmen goby. Btw what do you plan to do with the angel fish?

No to the mandarin (who will starve) and the dwarf angel.

I will go for the helfrichi goby they have instead. im just worried the thing will fly out of the tank. I respect what you all are saying about the mandarin but hes fatter than ever and im supplying him with live copepods and hand feed him nutri mar 2X day. Hes super healthy

James, if you do not have a cover on the tank you risk any type of fish jumping out. Firefish are known jumpers. In my experience they are very skittish.

Helfriechi firefish are very expensive.


There are plenty of options for livestock in a nano tank. A Great place to check out nanos is over @ nano-reef.com


I'd personally pass on the helfriechi till your tank is up an running and established. Nano tanks are not very easy to keep stable and it takes experience. Just my opinion

thanks for the input fellas.

I ended up going for the helfriechi goby, they gave me a nice deal on one. Another reason I stayed away from the angel is territorial aggression. I plan on getting a nice clown so I didnt want issues there. As much as I hate to give away my boxfish, I know it will be better off once he starts growing. Hes by far the most interesting fish iv ever had.
