porcupine puffer

hi, i recently got a porcupine puffer from total aquariums. Ive had him for a week now and I was wondering if anyone could help me out. He is really shy but he has been eating, so far he shows no signs of ich or anything harmful but i have been adding this herbal supplement i was recommended to use. Even though he has been eating, what concerns me is that he is never really swimming around unless its for food. He stays hidden in a little cave i have in my tank for the whole day. any help would be great, thanks

what else u have in the tank ? give it some time to get used to ur tank if it eating then it will become more friendly in time ...is this for a reef tank?? if so ur hermit/snails and most of ur corals will beome lunch

well I have a pair of ocellaris clownfish, a hippo tang, a yellow tang, a flame angel and I did get it some crabs and snails for him to eat but he hasn't shown any interest in them so far.

Is he smaller than his tankmates? He could feel intimidated by more active fish.
How large is he?

He's about 2 and a half inches long, he's pretty much the biggest fish in he tank. He seems to be becoming less and less shy. Another question I have is, my puffers spines tend to stick out where as I've seen other that stay flat on their body's, any explanation for this? Thanks
