The other day I bought a couple peppermint shrimp. Unfortunatley one didn't make it but here is the story.

I got the peppermint home and acclimated it (drip) It was not acting right and I put it in my DT it was on its way out and sunk to the bottom and just was lying on its side. Then all of a sudden the Male Lyretail comes swimming across the tank, I was thinking that it was going to attach the shrimp. But here is the amazement. The fish laid down on the sand bed next the the shrimp and started to kinda nudge it. The shrimp was touching it with its legs even on the fishes eye. Then I knew that the shrimp was a goner when a snail came to it and started to climb on it, that spooked the shrimp and it jumped up and swam a little. The Lyretail then actually swam with it and was sorta guiding it back to the bottom. I then took the shrimp out, because it was obviously dead. I thought it was weird.

Then today I saw the other peppermint finally come out a bit out of the rockwork. The Male Lyretail again caught sight of it and swam over to it and then backed into the rockwork right next to the shrimp. There was zero aggression.

These are not cleaner shrimp, but could the fish be confused. I don't know if this is normal, but I have never seen it before and again amazed at the LIFE in my tank!!!
