Well its KINDA hard focusing on the hippo tang while it has all algea on the fish too. Your best bet is to clean it out really good. Btw what were you using for the algea? Its better off to just clean the tank clean and start over. But if you dont have no patients in this hobby then i guess you should give the hippo away. Remember PANTIENTS is the number ONE source in this hobby with out having pantients you wont go no where and just stay on level one.

I'm sorry again? But it sounds like you are just using TAP water. if that's the case then you never going to get rid of your multi color algae there, but I hope your fish do gets better.

Looks like it got in a fight with a lawn mower.

Reef or fowlr? Do yourself a favor. Go get some garbage bags, completely cover the tank, sides and top, so no light hits it. After your done, start the timer and keep it covered and no lights for 3 straight days. After 3 days, uncover the tank and slowly add light to the tank. Also, dose some special blend after words. Then do a nice clean job of dead algae and cyno and no more issues...

Looks like old LLD or hlle on the fish, or scratches

i took in a Hippo that looked the same way ( my tank looked nothing like yours but thats not here or there ) but anyway from what i could tell it was just scared all the time she would hide at any cost when anyone got near the tank even for feeding time and from trying to fit into small spots she gave her self nice cuts i had her for over a year now looks the same like day one.

I agree this looks like HLLE Head and lateral line erosion. it come from dirty water imo.

I have only see it fixed by returning it to a pristine enviornment , and providing proper nutrion.

what do you feed?
