So I got a great deal on a Max Flow Sump. The only problem is that it has bioballs and a filter pad tray.

First Question: If I take out the bioballs and replace it with live rock rubble is it OK for the rock to not be completely submerged.

Second Question/problem: How can i put a remora hob skimmer in the sump?

live rock would/should allow for better filtration if it is submerged, however the flow of water passing over the rock may still allow for some biological filtration, however it may not be as efficient.

This is purely skeptical and should still be somewhat logical. :p
