Anybody try it yet? I have a feeling its reading slightly lower then what really is and wanted to know what others results are.
I have my SG a little higher then most people @ 1.026
My test results
LaMotte: 145PPM = 8.12dKH
Hanna: 114PPM = 6.384dKH

Then I tried a test on freshly made IO saltwater @ 1.026
150PPM = 8.4dKH

Everywhere I read, and even from my own testing of freshly made IO shows that it should be 9.5dKH or more.

I would really like to hear other users test results.

It's getting some bad reviews. There is a thread over in the RC reef chemistry forum on whether or not it's even possible to make an accurate alk "checker" for saltwater.

I think its quicker and more accurate to just test using a good test kit. I can't imagine filling, cleaning, adding regent to one, putting it in checker, waiting to read, hoping its as exact as it says because a small piece of dust can ruin the reading....

is as simple as

.....fill vial and count drops.

For Po4 its hard to read some test kits, and most are more inaccurate than the checker which itself has a large swing.

My issue wasn't about simple, it was brought upon by inaccuracy of salifert test kit where some batches were totally off. As for my LaMotte test kit, that small blue pill sometimes doesn't dissolve fast which is very annoying to keep stirring it. And the longer you leave it out, the test results get a little off (this is based upon the end color changing over time just sitting on the table). I don't care about a little more work, but I want a consistent accurate result.

I took a look at the RC thread, it looks like they're saying it could be up to 10% off. Seems like everybody is getting the same result of the hanna being lower. I wonder if maybe they need to recalibrate it since it seems consistent that everybody's getting a lower then expected reading. Maybe just add 30PPM to the final reading and it'll be accurate?

There is not calibration fluid. There is a test standard. The latest right from Hanna is to shake after putting the reagent in for over 2 minutes as opposed to 30 seconds. The issues seem related to dissolving of the reagant.
