i bought the 48' T5 retrofitkit for my 75 gallon tank a t first i liked the lights but while doing a water change i had my hand in the water and my forearm hit the reflector i got a nice shock so i tested it i got 57 volts from the reflector to the water at first i thought it was comming from something else so i unplugged everything one by one till the only thing that was left was the light and the voltage was still there after many attempts to contact wavepoint they finally got back to me just to tell me i was wrong my lfs ordered me a new light thinking the one i got was defective when the new light came in i tested it before leaving the store and the same thing 57 volts the guy at wavepoint was telling me it was impossible and he was going to test it himself a week went by and i was leaving messages everyday finally he got back to me saying he tested it and i was right but he only got 31 volts and he could send me a new light that was it so anyone with the wavepoint retro test the light and see what you get

that is insane I wont buy theri bulbs or their lights you are better off sucking it up and buying a much better light for your money or one used. I am sorry you got shocked that is not the best thing in this hobby. :(

that leads me to the next part of this saga the guy from wavepoint says there is a gfci plug on the light well if that was true there should be a ground lug at the plug there isnt just a two pronged outlet 0ne white wire one black wire i am a journeyman lineman i work with electric every day when the guy told me i was wrong i flipped out so the light fixture itself is not grounded i ran a ground wire up to the light and hooked it to the reflector the voltage went away the main issue is the customer service at wavepoint they have alot of those lights out there just waiting to give someone a shock and they are not worried about it
