What can I use to flush the used chiller we just purchased ? I figure while its not attached what the heck may as well do it now. Thanks for the suggestions and input.

Ok thanks I only have a mag 12 that I use to mix my salt water. Do you think if i plumbed it in line and ran a mix of say 5 gallons of vinegar to 25 gallons of water in a loop for 6 hours or so that would be ok ?

You could use a 50/50 mix of water to white vinegar in & out of a single large pail or tote of some sort. You only need a few gallons more than what it takes to fill the chiller and the hoses you are using.

As far as I know it was from a reef , I bought it used from Mikenyc I just figured I would do what I could to prep it and clean it before I ran It. What would be optimal to prep it if im not 100 percent sure. I really appreciate all the help and suggestions. Im also trying to figure if I can gravity feed it or if I should plumb it thru my return pump or just add a pump for flow thru the chiller.

Thanks Chuck & Anna Maria

yes picked it up today ,I hope to have it installed soon , I have a panworld 200 return pump on my tank now, does that mean i can just run it in line with the pump ? I was told which Im ok with to just attach one or two of my return hoses from the tank to the chiller , then have the chiller dump into my sump, which then flows to my tank through my pump. I have all four of the drilled holes as returns and built a manifold coming strraight from my pump to my tank. One return should be approx 700 gallons with two at approx 1400. So my thoughts were to hook one return hose or pipe to the chiller then have the output from the chiller flow into the sump. ? It recommends that the chiller be last inline just before the return to the tank. thanks again for the help.

At first i had it a mag 7 run the chiller and pumped in to the sump . But did not work to well . So i put it in line with the return pump . I use a mag 24 that feeds the chiller and the out put goes to the tank. and works great this way .
