Hey all, i'm Thinking about ttying some odd colors. adding some more color to my tank would be a cool little project

I'm interested in adding maybe some red green or uv purple LEDs to my tank. Does anyon have any idea what I could use or where I can buy some strips? anyone do anything like this?

I'm looking for like 6-12 inch strips with Power supplies. They are purely for looks not growth.

I would obviously need them to be pretty powerful to add to my led setup

I have a 403nm UV EcoExotic stunner strip that I use as a moonlight. I have it turn on an hour before lights turn off while LED's are dimming and then 2 hours after lights are off. It gives the tank a dark purple glow that looks cool as a moonlight. I would run it all night, however a few people said that even though they are such low wattage they might cause algae to grow. Rather then risk it I only have them on for a little while. If you are looking to get an unusual color I would definitely recommend this.

red def looks cool...the guy from Taiwan (i think) on here has an LED fixture with red and blue...i had a cheapo red/blue one made for my pico and its cool...not sure about stimulating any growth, but it helps the fun novelty glow

Hey,
I put a strip of four blue LED lights that I have during night. I have eight power 72 inch power compact lights, four white and two dual and two blue, I have the two blue come on first in the am, then the two dual, and then two hours after the blue came on the white comes on. They also go off with the with first, then the dual and then the blue. Once the blue is off I have a strip of blue LED moon lights that come on for a few hours, they go off around midnight and look really cool. It allows all the corals that have florences to just glow, everyone that sees it is in amazement by the glowing corals. I don't know and I really don't think that LED lights do anything than look really cool, I don't think they add any light to the coral but I would get them if you can, just for the fact that they look awesome.

I get ice sculptures at work and they bring these little bettery operated twist (on) LED's that are prettty bright and last for about 3 days.
I have gotten around 15 different colors pink orange, blue, green, purple, yellow ETC.
I have used most of the these colors on my tank. They all look pretty cool. But aside from blue. Teal and green look best to me. Purple makes the colrs really pop.
They are also waterproof so you can do some cool effects behind rockwork.
Here is a link. It is a cheap way to experiment with colors
