My skimmer on my 265gal tank dropped and broke 2 nights ago. It was a Reef Octopus rated for 300 gallons, bought it used. In a pinch I reinstalled an older RO Skimmer that I had on my 120gal back in the day and wonder with the following bioload should I run out and buy a new one or wait.
Various corals, snails, shrimp and hermits
1 Emperor angel 6"
3 Tangs 4"
1 tang 2"
3 wrasses 4"
2 clown fish 2"
This tank has only been up a year. The old RO Skimmer is alive and kicking, but I'm thinking I'll have to clean it every other day and calibrating it is a PIA, but I dont want to spend the $$$ for a new one yet.
