Refugium/ Stump Set up HELP

I have only been in the hobby a year and am planning on setting up my first refugium/ stump for my 30 gal sea horse tank. There is ALOT of information out there.

So far I have purchased..

How should I set up my compartments?
Is there any other equipment I would need such as a protein skimmer?
