Hey guys, I am piecing together my start up equipment for my new Marineland 150 gallon dual overflow tank, with a 40 gallon breeder 2 chamber sump. I was looking at the Reef Octopus Diablo Variable Speed Water Pump DC-10500, at top speed (85 watts) its puts out 2275 GPH. I only need about about 1500 gph and I was wondering if I could accomplish that with this pump by lowering the speed (which is the aspect of desire for this particular piece of equipment), can anyone shed some light on this? It may be a silly question but this is my first large tank and I am unfamiliar with the higher capacity equipment I now need.

Thanks,
Ed

Is that the gpm as per manufacturer, you will lose gpm with your plumbing ( elbow, tee's etc..) also it's a dc pump correct? Couldn't it be dialed down to its min setting?

that pump is controllable. you can adjust the settings. i have a similar pump from coralvue on my ro dcs 150. it has 6 settings, and a feed mode.
