t5 vs led

so im in the market for a new light for my 40 breeder reef . im stuck between one of those 120w led reef light and the AquaticLife T5 HO and Lunar Light Fixtures.

If u hav a chiller id go T5s. From these 2 options.

i would not go with those LED's for that price its not worth it for those chines knock off's you should go threw a reputable vendor who sells full spectrum lighting.

this light below in the link is fully programmable. so you set it and forget it. rick there at reefradiance answers very quickly, has ton of experience. Also he will make your experience with them amazing.

also if your gonna get a 36" fixture T5, you are better off with a ATI fixture. There is a few of them floating around the market place used almost new condition. I am sure you would be happier with that fixture then the other one your talking about. Dont get me wrong it is a good fixture but for 50-100$ more you can get a really good well built fixture. But hope this helped you.

any questions on the LED's please pm me or post any questions. dont spend 250+ on that fixture, its no good. i was looking at that same one a few months ago. Not worth it at all.

Maybe compared to led but each lighting has its purpose. You shouldn't need a chiller with t5's. if you do, your home is too warm or not ventilated well.

+1 I have a tek light 6 bulb fixture over my 46 gallon bow front and had no issues with heat over the summer.

same here have T5s running on our tank downstairs never hadd a issue summer nor winter. then again we do them them sitting 21" above the water.

maybe if the tank is in a closet with the door closed, lights on and no ventilation....

its a shallow tank. nothing has ever reached or done bad so im guessing its okay. the bubble tips and rock anemones and zoas are doing fine.

Look at my 40 breeder rack build thread. Those 120w lights are good but the ends wont be as bright which is ok for lower light corals.
