anyone know what kind of pump they use and does it have a restart issue

They use Eden pumps. First gen pumps had impeller issues. Mine cracked open. Bought a new (and supposedly improved) impeller and all seems to be working as intended now. So I suggest checking your impeller to see if that is the culprit.
