what kind of a reactor?

This came with my craigslist tank. The local fish store folk did not connect it and said I dont really need it, and they werent sure what it was.

1. What is this?

2. What material is inside? looks like tiny black rods.

3. Can I connect it to the return pump or this will require another pump?

Tough to say brand looks lime two little fishes
You can create a manifold to run that off your return pump if you like or use a maxi jet or similar type pump
Used for carbon, phosban, rowaphos, biopellets ECt
I can't say for sure but I'd guess carbon is in that

it's a two little fish's carbon or phosban reactor and out of curiousity unless your running one already what store told you that you didnt need to run it ?

What kind of store wouldn't recognize a TLF Phosban reactor? Also the media looks brown and looks like GFO to me but what you described sounds like ROX carbon,
