Eheim jager 150 w heater help!!!

I bought one the other day for my 57 g rimless tank.
I placed it in my 20g long sump I set it for 82 but it will not go over 75 why?
This is driving me crazy
I also tried raising it to 86 and the most I got it to go was 76
Why I need help
I have a digital thermometer

my only guess would be that the dial is set wrong or its defective...

Probably undersized heater for your application.
I would have recommended a 200w heater for a 57g tank.

Yeah. Inadequate amount of watts per gallon. I have a 250 and two 150s for roughly that amount of water volume.

No, two would be good. I just had an extra one and I keep the house on the cool side at night. By using two or more smaller heaters, you avoid overheating if there'sa malfunction and one doesn't shut down.
