DBTC: Montipora hirsuta (elkhorn montipora)

It is time for me to start fragging my elkhorn montipora.

It is a branching SPS which has some really interesting pattern. The color ranges from brown to green. Mine is greenish. It is from ORA but if you look at their page you can see that the color is very different.

It is a very fast grower, and ideally suited for the beginner to the SPS world.

Here are the rules:

1 - to be picked up at my place in Manhattan (close to Flatiron)

2 - you will receive a 1-2 inch branch. I hate plugs, but if you want one, I will glue it.

3 - contact me regarding availability. It will depend on interest, but since it is a fast grower, that could be all the time.

4 - if I lose the mother colony, I would love a piece to grow it back!

5 - and of course: do not resell it, please share it!

I have a small piece that broke off when I was moving the monti around. I think it's about an inch in size. Pickup in Grand Central M-F, 9-5. I can post a pic tonight but it looks just like Geraud's pic.

Ok, I just accidentally made a nice frag, Y shaped, about 2.5" long. First come first serve. To be picked up close to Gramercy Park.

One of my fish decided to frag a piece (1,5", very branchy), and I have a large fan-shaped growth (2") that I would like to cut to avoid a birdnest from getting in the shadow.

This is the growth pattern on that guy, alternating plating and branching. The colony I have is about 14 months old, and started as a 3 inches frag... it is now about 7x7x8"... that gives you an idea of the growth rate.

Alright I have a nice piece I would like to cut, you can see it on the bottom right, just above the basslet. It already has a nice shape, and is about 3 by 3 inches now. Very intricate.
