Unfortunately I did not take pics of the monstrosity. I found my acan was knocked over sometime at night by one of my snails. It had its tentacles all over my cc.... Hopefully both have no problems and get over it soon.

Acans will eat anything that they can reach with their sweepers.. In fact they eat each other in my tank and I personally feed each mouth each week with salt water mysid. This is not a guaranteed attack.. It will do it when it feels like it. If an acan can reach it, eventually it will latch on.. What you will see is a webby pulled flesh into a mouth or two on the dominate acan. You can use your baster to cut the flesh. Then just blow off the rest and suck it up... It will heal..

Well just got a chance to look at my acan and cc... it's not looking to good for the cc.... flesh is almost melting away, the mouth is open and I can see the skeleton. Looks like it may be a goner... which is a pisser cause it was splitting. damn!

sorry for the loss ...

... acans probably do eat everything that comes in contact with their tentacles ... I witnessed them eating one of my banded coral shrimp's shell (molted shell) ... I was looking at it like

Don't give up on the CC. They can recover fairly well. I had one that got covered by a mushroom and most of the flesh of the cc melted overnight. I separated them and in a couple weeks the cc was back to normal.

Well here is an update. The CC is starting to regenerate its flesh back onto the skeleton.
IT does not in any way shape or form look pretty, but I am astounded by the regrowth. The CC currently has went from half a CC to 3/4 within a few weeks. So it should be a few more weeks before it is back to somewhat normal Puffy self.
Wish I documented the way it looked a few weeks ago.
