I bought 2 (one yellow and one red) gorgonians, that were opening up fine initially and for the past week they havent opened up. I got mixed reviews on these, but was told these gorgonians are hardy. I dont believe there photosynthetic, so assume this will mean there demise if they keep this up.

The yellow one is certainly not photosynthetic. The red one probably isn't either, though I would need to see a photo to tell you for sure.

It isn't a necessarily a big deal if they don't open up - sometimes that means that they just aren't "hungry". I would suggest using a turkey baster to gently blow away any algae or detritus that might have built up on the branches. If the polyps come out, try feeding them cyclopeez if you haven't already.

They should be open at night. That is normal behavior. They have very sporadic polyp extension during the day. If the polyps are open 24/7 that is a bad sign.

I don't find the yellow finger or the red finger interested in cyclopeeze. Try Hikari Micro Pellets (Freshwater pellets) or crushing up FI & II pellets and spot feeding them. I have had great luck feeding my yellow fingers Tetraselmis phyto and sachs aquaculture dried plankton feed.

Yeah, I stopped feeding cyclopeeze a while ago when I noticed my YF catching the cyclopeeze but actually releasing it. I thought they were eating it until I watched closely. A varied diet is best anyway. Cyclopeeze alone is probably not enough.
